Capilano Branch Library opens in Edmonton

November 8, 2018

A branch of the Edmonton Public Library, Capilano Branch, just opened its doors on November 8th, 2018.

The new library represents a significant upgrade from its old home in the second level of a mall. The new ground floor location, complete with serene views and natural light, is by nature more accessible and will serve over 167,000 visitors annually.

Together with Patkau Architects and Group2, the design consists of a jagged roof of three peaks running along the length of the building, giving the appearance of different roofs collapsing against each other. Mass timber roof panels connect the jagged steel frames, which span the width of the building.

The grand opening of the Library will take place on November 23, 2018. Learn more on epl.ca.
