The terrain shaped the architectural response: the home cascades down the hillside, with two of its three storeys visible from the high side of the site. This terraced form allows the residence to nestle into the landscape, while maintaining a bold, modern silhouette.

Inside, the layout emphasizes openness and connectivity, with large, open-plan living areas oriented to capture natural light and sweeping views. Central to the experience are the dramatic, cantilevered decks that stretch along the sloped side of the house. These not only provide generous outdoor living space and panoramic mountain vistas but also perform a critical function by shielding the building and its outdoor areas from snow accumulation in winter, while providing passive shading during the warmer summer months.

Structurally, the home is anchored by a foundation of concrete slab-on-grade with spread footings and reinforced concrete walls, ensuring stability on the challenging site. Above, a hybrid structural system integrates steel beams, HSS columns, and concrete shear walls to provide lateral support for the steel decking and concrete slab floors, enabling the home’s long spans and dramatic cantilevers.

Inside, exposed glulam elements introduce warmth and rhythm to the structural expression, while flooring materials extending from interior to exterior enhance the visual and spatial continuity between the two spaces.
