UBC Tallwood House on the cover of The Structural Engineer
October 2, 2018
The University of British Columbia’s Brock Commons Tallwood House has been featured on the cover of The Structural Engineer.
The Tallwood House is an 18-storey, 400-bed student residence at UBC. Reaching 53m, the building is among the tallest mass timber hybrids in the world. The building features an innovative post and panel system, with cross-laminated timber panels, point-supported on glulam columns. The project highlights mass timber’s increasing viability as a cost effective building material for high-rise construction.
