UVic Student Residences Construction Underway

August 6, 2020

Construction for the new University of Victoria (UVic) Student Residences is officially underway.

The student housing and dining facility will be made up of two buildings – an 8-storey and 11-storey structure, which will be constructed predominantly with cast-in-place concrete. One of the buildings will also feature large exposed mass timber dining halls.

Consisting of 783 beds, other amenities and services in the buildings include shared kitchen and living spaces, teaching theatres, meeting rooms, informal gathering places, and a designated Indigenous student lounge. The $180 million project targets LEED Gold as well as Passive House standards.

Rooms in Building 1 and the new dining hall are expected to open in fall 2022. The full project is anticipated to be complete by 2023.
