The 3-storey, 25,000 square feet post-disaster structure is composed of concrete walls and suspended slab with a hybrid steel and mass timber roof. An insulated thermal break system was used for the large steel cantilevered beams to reduce bridging through the envelope. The new facility is also home for Richmond Fire-Rescue’s administration and community relations services.

With the facility’s optimization of energy efficiency and operations, the completion of the LEED Gold fire hall marked a new milestone for the city in improving safety in the community.
