PNE Freedom Mobile Arch Officially Opens, Unveiling Iconic Long-Span Timber Arch Roof
June 15, 2026
Following nearly two years of construction, the PNE Freedom Mobile Arch officially welcomed its first audience on Friday, June 5, with an inaugural celebration. Following this, it is hosting soccer fans from around the world as Vancouver’s official FIFA Fan Festival™ venue, bringing thousands together to enjoy live match broadcasts, entertainment, and the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.
Located in the heart of Hastings Park at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), this new open-air venue delivers a world-class experience for performers and guests alike. Featuring a permanent performance stage and a three-storey back-of-house facility, it is set to become one of Vancouver’s premier entertainment destinations, with capacity for up to 10,000 guests.
Developed through extensive collaboration with Revery Architecture, the PNE Freedom Mobile Arch was thoughtfully designed to prioritize audience experience. The resulting structure is a unique starburst arched roof, spanning 105 metres from buttress to buttress and covering 7,200 square metres – making it one of the longest timber arch roofs in the world. This innovative mass timber roof reinterprets the use of traditional concrete shell typologies, pushing the boundaries of timber design in non-traditional applications.
Congratulations to the City of Vancouver, the PNE, Revery Architecture, and the entire project team on the completion of this remarkable new landmark. Fast + Epp is proud to have contributed to a venue that will serve as a lasting destination for celebration, culture, and community for generations to come.
