Sarah FitzMaurice speaks at WoodWorks’ East Wood Design Virtual Symposium

May 27, 2020

Part of WoodWork’s Advancements In Mass Timber & Wood-Frame Building Design virtual symposium, please join our Associate from our New York office, Sarah FitzMaurice as she shares her insights on “Engineering Cleveland’s First Nine-Story Mass Timber Building” on June 3, 2020.

As a segment of the Mass Timber: Applied Design Guidance session, Sarah discusses Intro (otherwise known as Market Square), one of the first tall timber buildings in Cleveland, OH, that was recently approved for the 2021 International Building Code (IBC).

This presentation will explore the structural design processes for the nine-storey project including CLT and glulam design checks (such as vibration and connections), grid layout and manufacturer coordination, and how fire-resistance impacts structural members in an exposed tall timber building.
