New Bus Terminal at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station Opens

November 12, 2019

The new bus terminal at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) Station in Toronto, Ontario, opened earlier this month on November 3rd.

The new transit hub features nine bus bays, seating areas, washrooms, an area for (future) retail space, and a beautiful community park. The hub was designed to be inviting and accessible for people – whether they are arriving by transit, walking, cycling, or vehicle drop-off. Passengers can now easily walk between the VMC station and Highway 7 viva rapidway station, either through the community park or underground pedestrian walkway, in just two minutes.

Fast + Epp’s integration of mass timber and steel in this project heightens the warm and welcoming ambiance of the terminal, while preserving a low carbon footprint. The use of glass windscreens and warming shelters provides security, transparency, and accessibility all around the structure. See project details behind the new bus terminal at the VMC station here.

Additional work on the new bus terminal is expected to take place next spring, but the terminal will remain open and accessible during that time.
