The Arbour wins 2019 AZ award

July 25, 2019

The Arbour at George Brown College recently won Azure Magazine’s 2019 Best in Concepts: Unbuilt Buildings award.

Designed by Moriyama & Teshima and Acton Ostry, this Tallwood building will be Ontario’s first large span mass timber structure.

Working alongside the architects, Fast + Epp developed an innovative large span beamless structural system that is comprised of timber-concrete-composite CLT slab bands with perpendicular CLT infill panels, all supported on glulam columns. This long span flat plate system allows for flexibility in architectural programming and unobstructed mechanical distribution.

The Federal Government recently announced a $4.1 million investment in The Arbour through its Green Construction Through Wood program.
