Prime Minister attends grand opening of NAIT Productivity and Innovation Centre

September 5, 2018

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) this morning for the grand opening of the Productivity and Innovation Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

The NAIT Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC) will provide comprehensive support to students and industry. The Centre will enhance productivity, spur innovation, foster a deeper culture of entrepreneurship, and drive solutions to industry-driven problems through applied research.

“Research is the foundation for the positive change that we’re going to see in the months and years to come – whether it’s technology we won’t be able to imagine our days without, or jobs for our young people,” says Trudeau. We will continue to invest in state-of-the-art facilities and learning spaces – like the Productivity and Innovation Centre – to not only create jobs today, but to prepare Canadians for the good, middle class jobs of tomorrow.”

A 190,000 square feet facility, PIC is being built to LEED certification standards. NAIT is a leading Canadian polytechnic, delivering education in science, technology and the environment; business; health and trades.
