The Timber Concrete Node (TCN)
Developed in the Concept Lab, the Timber Concrete Node (TCN) is a precast, kit-of-parts connector that delivers fast, economical, and versatile connections in post-and-beam timber construction.
Designed for efficiency from fabrication to installation, the TCN streamlines structural interfaces, offering a three-in-one versatility—serving as a column splice and double-sided beam connector—while accommodating everything from light purlins to heavy girders. Its flexible geometry supports 1-sided, 2-sided (including uneven depths), 3-way, and 4-way framing, giving designers freedom to connect beams, girders, and purlins in virtually any configuration.
Installation is fast and efficient, requiring only a few screws and simple timber notching, and the precast concrete component provides precise geometry, unrivaled construction tolerances, and inherent fire resistance without added fireproofing materials. With customizable colors, textures, and finishes, the TCN can be expressed as a visible feature, partially revealed, or fully concealed, delivering in both performance and architectural flexibility.
