Fast + Epp conducts composite testing with UNBC
March 11, 2020
Fast + Epp has started the first phase of composite testing in partnership with the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George.
The 30’ long full-scale double-T ribbed panels for long-span floors and roofs undergoing testing are anticipated to be used for the upcoming Sir Matthew Begbie Elementary School project. The CLT/glulam ribbed panels can allow for longer spans that make the build more efficient with the use of less materials. The floors will then be poured with concrete and floor finishing.
See the progression photos of the first phase of tests:
- Specimen DT-1: Four-point bending test on CLT-glulam composite floor.
- Specimen DT-1: Failure of the glulam beam.
- Specimen DT-3: UNBC Assistant Professor Dr. Jianhui Zhou and exchange student conducting the vibration test.
