May 13, 2014

The Engineering News-Record Global Best Projects Awards were announced on May 9, 2014. The Tsingtao Pearl Visitor Centre in Qingdao, China was granted the Global Award of Merit in the Cultural category. The awards were given to projects that are outstanding examples of challenges, risks and rewards of designing and building internationally. A method was devised to work on two continents in order to produce the 28,000 square foot visitor centre. All design work and prefabrication of the structure’s components took place in Canada, then sent to China as a kit-of-parts for assembly. Awards will be presented May 13th at the ENR+Dodge 2014 Global Construction Summit in New York City.
