Centennial Arena was suffering from years of deterioration since its original construction in the mid 1960’s. Added to that were the difficulties that the existing wood-steel moment frames were causing with the day to day function of the building. The response was a novel structural solution which converted the existing 105 ft. wood moment frames into an expressive hybrid wood-steel truss. This reconfiguration allowed for the removal of all of the deteriorated and obstructing elements within the existing structure.
