The 2-storey, 4,590 sq. m. structure maximized the use of lumber donated by local industry. The classroom wings are constructed using conventional concrete floors and glulam beam/steel deck roof framing. The atrium features a cable-supported central curved steel pipe spine that provides support for sawn timber roof struts. These struts along with the columns and roof beams consist of triple and quadruple 4”x10” and 4”x12” laminations that interlock to form a unique architectural expression.
