With expansive views of Vancouver and Grouse Mountain, The Brook was built as a green alternative for discerning and environmentally-conscious homebuyers – favourable close to natural amenities and public transit.

The client targeted LEED Platinum certification, incorporating high-efficiency geothermal technology for heating and cooling the building, solar thermal technology for domestic hot water, and heat recovery ventilation units to circulate fresh air throughout each of the 24 units.

Fast + Epp’s structural solution for this four-storey residence utilized a tiered building configuration, which steps up the hillside for unimpeded views. A unique concrete and steel post-and-beam frame in the parkade ensured seismic safety, while wood frame construction for the upper levels ensured the sustainability markers could be met.

When completed, The Brook was considered Canada’s greenest condominium – reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85% when compared with structures of a similar size that have been constructed using typical building methods.
